Amy Studt

Just A little Girl, Misfit and Under The Thumb is just a taster of the style of music Amy Studt performs, Amy's music has grown over the years, her sound has a more mature pop/rock sound.

Singer/songwriter Amy has 3 amazing albums under her belt, some of you may have been lucky enough to catch Amy live on her last tour performing her incredible songs to impressed music lovers every night, for those of you haven't had the chance to catch Amy live as yet, you can listen to her music @ her official my space: www.myspace.com/amystustofficial

You've been out of the charts and the public eye for a while, what have you been up to?

Well after my 2nd album i took some time out before starting album number 3, then i released 3 singles off the back of that, i've been touring, spent time in LA writing for other artists, i've also written a short film, i'm trying to get hold of the producers at the moment to get the ball rolling with that.

How is your current tour going? how long have you been touring for?

I've actually just finished touring, about a week ago, it went really well, really good turn out. (Do you find some crowds are harder to please than others?) It depends on the crowds really, it's not the size of the crowds it's who is in the audiences, i like to play around on stage, i like talking to the crowds.

Are you still performing your older hits like Misfit and Under The Thumb?

Yeah I am, i like to remix them, with Just a Little Girl, and Misfit they have a fresh/new sound kind of updated, i have a few new songs which i like to try out, from album number 3 nice boys is good to perform i stripped it back, i've been talking about releasing a live album which would be good, totally live and stripped it's something i've been wanting to do for a while so that may happen soon...

Do your older hits tend to gain the biggest response from the crowds?

It depends who turns up, young girls tend to love the older songs because they remember them for when i first released Just A little girl, Nice Boy i do a different version to it tends to go down well. At the moment i'm sick of performing the same songs so I may wait untill i have some new songs before i tour again.

Which is a Amy Studt live show like?

When i'm on stage there's me on piano and Carl on guitar and we do stripped back versions on my songs, i love the intimacy of being on stage, talking to the crowds it's very friendly and intimate.

You've got quite a few new unreleased songs on your my space, when will you be releasing a new single to download? (itunes, amazon etc?)

All of the songs from my space are on my albums you can buy them from itunes.

Are you working/recording a new album at the moment? (Any Possible release dates?)

Unsure at the moment, it depends really on how long i take writing and recording. (How long do you spend writing? You write all your own material, where does your inspiration come from?) Once i start writing, free association writing, i can write pages and pages of lyrics, then piece it all together and turn it into a song, things creep up in the back of my mind i write about what i'm feeling.

How important is chart recognition to you? what is your opion on the charts at the moment?

Music is so F****d up right now, i'm not to bothered, obviously its nice to be in the charts and to have the recognition, but i'm happy as long as i can pay my rent and what not but most importantly as long as i'm being creative i'm happy. To be in the charts is exciting but it's not something i'm pushing.

How much has your music sound/style changed since you first released Just A Little Girl?

I was with my management since i was 14 to 23, that has been me growing up, my first stuff now was a little bit show tunes, with my first album music got changed around by the producers in the studio to give it a pop swing, with my second album it sounded more like me, i wanted to create something that was a snap shot of me, just like over the last 6 years I've grown as an artists, my music has grown. Are you looking for a record deal at the moment? it's not something i'm pushing for, i was with my management/record company since i was 14 i have grown as an artist with them as long as you have good communication and you have control that's what you need, at the moment i am my own manager/record company its a learning experience

When you toured with Razorlight, you changed your name, What this your choice? a way of distancing your self from your early releases for a little while?

I thought if people knew it was Amy Studt, some people wouldn't be interested, i wanted people to listen to my music and not judge me, not be opinionated and not dismiss it, not boo me lol!!

Have you got any plans to tour again this year?

I'm not sure yet, maybe i will do a few shows, all dates that i do have lined up will be on my official my space. Do you have a new music video coming out? I'm hoping to shoot some videos for my new songs, its a nice way to listen to the music, watching the video at the same time, i like making music videos its my favorite thing.

What are your plans for 2010?

I'm off to LA again soon song writing, projects with friends, i'm hoping to get my short film produced.

Any Messages for your fans?

Thank you for buying my music, hope you like what my new music, your support over the years has been amazing, thank you.
