Arno
Carstens Interview:
Wonderful
wild your UK debut album release, how are you feeling a head
of the release?
I
am feeling very positive, it's a great album, it's doing good
on the radio just see how it goes, in my head it's about building
the market and playing to as many people as possible, that's
what is so great about playing this tour with Ronan he's playing
live every night playing to different audiences it's cool
i'm feeling very positive.
How
do UK audiences compare with all the different tours you have
done?
They
are great, audiences are sort of the same all over the world,
at the same time Ronan audiences are different to mine normally.
But then again it's all about playing to as many different
crowds as possible like with the festivals it's about getting
the different vibes, everyone is always up for a good party.
Having
released 7 albums how does Wonderful Wild compare with them
I
think the production is much better and the songs are much
better worked out, i normally write quite quick so i remember
what i'm doing and don't get to scientific about it, I worked
with youth this album, he really took a lot of time to structure
the songs, he has been in this industry for some time now
as a producer he knows what the radio's want and he has taken
it up another step, it is very pop to what i have done before
and again it's there to reach the right target audience, it's
cool there's not as much guitar on it this time round.
How long have you spent writing and producing this album?
On
and off for 2 years little bits in Spain and UK. I'd write
some songs take a break then come back write some more, i
think all together i wrote about 5o songs we choose 12 of
them for the album there's another two albums out there!
Do
you feel it get easier or harder to write a new album?
I
don't know i mean each album has its own set of problems,
as an artist you've normally got a vision of what your albums
going to be like its a great place to come from, when you
work with other songwriters and producers you all have your
own opinion and it can get muddled up but that's not a bad
thing it can give you that step up or something.
How
would you describe the sound and style of Wonderful Wild?
A
dark pop! I quite like serialism in lyrics and simply spoon
feeding lyrics, i like something with a twist, this album
has something for everyone.
Have
you got all the single's picked out from this album which
you are hoping to release?
Yeah,
we've got Dreamer, Heartbreak Monday and maybe Play the Game,
as you do the album you get songs which you think would be
a great single choice and you get some songs which you record
which are great but not for a single.
Where
does the name Wonderful Wild come from?
Its
just been a wild experience meeting a lot of different people,
different songwriters, its been a journey, that's were the
name it from, pretty cool though yeah :)?
Your currently supporting Ronan Keating on tour, how are you
finding the crowds reaction towards you?
Its
cool, there are some nights what are better than others, there
is a lot of woman out there who really love Ronan, it can
be difficult for a guy to go out there and work the crowd,
you have to hope that they dig your songs a little bit. I
find that the Boyzone/Ronan Keating fans are really loyal,
it's cool i'm enjoying it.
How many songs will you be performing to your set?
I'm
doing 6 songs, just me and my guitar otherwise it would get
very boring really quickly.
Any
plans to return to the stage at any of this years summer festivals?
I
don't know my schedule hasn't been released yet, i know i'm
back in Africa until July, i will be coming back over here
after the world cup, keep checking my web site all my dates
will be posted on there.
Any
plans for your own UK headline tour?
Hopefully
if the album does well, we just have to wait and see how that
does. Obviously doing the festivals is great, but to do my
own headline tour would be amazing.
What
are your plans after this tour ends?
After
Ronan tour, i'll be on Ultra box tour for about a week and
launching the album then going back to Africa for shows over
there, its a very busy time.
Any
final messages?
I
hope you like the Cd, come out and check the live shows it's
always better than the cd, i've got a great band together.
Thank you for supporting me.

YLOTANA
Project was born in the consciousness of people, who
are infinitely devoted to art. It represents a certain
musical, literary and visual art symbiosis. The vision
of this project is to expand the role of art in people's
day-to-day lives. The realization of this idea is done
by continuously experimenting with visual, acoustic
and written aspects of art in a way, which resonates
with vibrancy and passion that is almost childlike in
its exploration. The key idea of this project is to
utilize visual art, comics, insightful stories and deeply
explorative experimental music in order to provide a
unique 4D image, which titillates the senses, borders
on the transcendent, but is still very accessible to
the masses.
The
end product consists of a multimedia package, which
includes elements of: a music album, a comic book and
an audio book all sophisticatedly combined, so that
each element intensifies the depth of the other art
forms involved. Ylotana Project currently consists of
five ongoing projects, all of which can be experienced
on our website: www.ylotana.com.

TIRED
of listening to the same old
songs on the radio and seeing the same Barbie dolls
heading up the music scene? Then YLOTANA are the band
for you! A unique mixture of art, literature and music,
Ylotana promises a 4D experience unlike any other.
The
Ylotana project brings together a blend of styles and
voices – from the literary to the visually artistic
to the musical – into one focused whole, in an
effort to combat the bland offerings currently being
served to people who crave creative diversity within
the arts.
The
music itself is a lush arrangement of instrumentation
that will lull you into a trance while taking you to
another spiritual realm that will expand your mind and
consciousness...
