COLLARD & BAKAR RELEASE NEW TRACK ‘STONE’

‘UNHOLY’, THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED DEBUT ALBUM IS OUT NOW

+

CATCH COLLARD LIVE AT LAYLOW ON 22ND NOVEMBER

‘Your heart’s been stone for too long’….Collard sings on the chorus of his new song in collaboration with visionary artist, Bakar.

‘The song is essentially about trying to love someone whose heart is too stone to love you back but you try anyway, the need to break through and be their person outweighs all sense and can almost become an obsession,’ Collard explains.

Breezy and beautiful guitar riffs introduce this tormented love story, told through Collard’s sensual lyrics and Bakar’s strong vocals. Listen here.

‘Stone’ is another example of Collard’s innovative and genreless approach to songwriting and exemplifies his status as one of the UK music scenes most essential new artists.

The Camden based 24 year old artist released his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Unholy’ earlier this year.

Visceral, poetic and downright sensual, debut albums don’t come much more impressive than the stunningly honest ‘Unholy’. On this record Collard lays his heart – and his body – on the line, not least on opener ‘Hell Song’, one of the most erotic tunes you’ll hear all year. It’s a powerful starting point and one that makes it clear why the album carries the name it does and why tracks like the mournful ‘Vultures’ boast so much Biblical imagery. As well as the conflict between faith and desire, a strong female energy runs through the record. The album includes the old school funk of ‘Greyhound’, the slinky Kojey Radical-featuring ‘Ground Control’, which effortlessly pays tribute to both David Bowie and Frank Ocean as well as the dramatic tale of ‘Merciless’. All visuals have been directed by frequent collaborators Joe Shaw and Eseosa Ohen (Pulse Films).

Since the album’s release Collard has played his first ever solo live show to a sold-out crowd at the Camden Assembly and performed at one of Annie Mac’s “Presents” nights at the legendary Jazz Café.
He’s been continuing his live ventures with a residency at the Laylow club since September with the next one scheduled on 22nd November.

There’s been fantastic radio support on ‘Unholy’ across the board from Radio 1, 6Music, 1Xtra, BBC Asian Network, Radio X, Elton John @ Beats 1, Reprezent & Amazing Radio.
Collard also did a brilliant Maida Vale session for 6Music and ‘Stone’ received its first play from Annie Mac last night!

Laylow residency date:

Friday 22nd November

“Unholy” is out now via Lost Ones/ Virgin EMI and available here
