Huge thanks to Lauren for speaking with Music Promotions about her music, EP, live shows and more…
1)Can you start by telling everyone more about your single Boss Girls?
I really wanted a girl power song to make my comeback with. A song with a clear message of empowerment, deep lyrics but at the same time fun. I grew up in a house full of women so it’s something that really connected with me. My mum always taught me to be strong, independent and determined to do whatever I want to do in life. That’s the message I want to send out to my fans and everyone out there who can connect with it.
2)Does Boss Girls give a good indication of your music sound?
Yes it definitely does. I would never want to put out a song that doesn’t resonate with me. As an artist I believe the most important thing is to have an authentic and unique music sound that represents who you are. It really helps in having a clear musical direction.
3)Are you working towards releasing an album? What can we expect from your album if you are?
We are definitely working on an EP at first then hopefully a full album afterwards. I don’t want to give out too much but on the EP you can definitely expect upbeat songs and maybe a ballad or 2.
4)What have you been doing since your time on the X Factor? If you could go back and change anything would you?
It has not been a smooth sail since the show ended. There have been times I wanted to give up as this industry seems so hard to break into but I knew within me that I just needed to stay positive, committed and keep pushing.
The X Factor was a crazy experience that thought me a lot about myself. I definitely wouldn’t change anything as everything in life is a stepping stone.
5)Do you keep in touch with any one from your time on the X Factor?
I do keep in touch with a few and we do catch up every now and then, but to be honest it is not easy as each and everyone is so busy doing their own things.
6)Have you got any live shows coming where your fans can see you live?
We are definitely planning a few dates soon. I really can’t wait to meet my fans and perform my music!!
7)Who in the charts are you currently listening to?
In the charts at the moment I’m really loving Mabel, Anne Marie and Raye. I love their fresh sound and style.
8)Who inspires you as an artist?
My main inspiration has always been Whitney Houston as I grew up on her music. I also love Adele, she supported me while I was on the X Factor which was incredible.
9)What are your expectations towards mainstream success?
I am 100% aware of the fact that it is unfortunately not as open and welcoming as it appears to be. With that said I am solely focused on my main dream which is to sing and communicate with my music. As cliché as it may sound, so long as I can make music I am happy. Setbacks and obstacles do not faze me anymore. I will keep pushing and with my fans by my side I know I can achieve a lot.
10)Anything further you’d like to add I haven’t asked?
I would like to thank anyone that has been following me, supporting me and been loyal since day one. You are the best!
