Red District

Meet your new favorite new band...Hello Red District! Red District have recently formed, meet four friends from college with the same dreams of forming a band, that's what they have done! and they will not disappoint, get over to there official my space at www.myspace.com/reddistrictsheff to listen to a selection of there songs they have recorded and keep updated with where you can catch them live.

Red District are:

Alexander Harrison: Vocals/Guitar
Sam Potts: Vocals/Guitar
Chris Parker: Bass
Chris Cook: Drums

For anybody new to Red District can you introduce yourselves?

Hey we are Alex, Sam and Chris and Chris! Alex and Sam play Guitar, Chris parker on Bass and Chris Cook is our drummer. We have been together since November last year, Sam and Alex started the band during a msn discussion about our favorite bands and from that we decided to start our own band,
Alex had just come out of another band, we met Chris and Chris through college and we've been rehearsing together ever since!

Do you all have assigned roles within the band?

Yeah we do, we stick to our own parts, that said we try to include each other in everything like changing vocals, changing instruments, having a change round of arrangements.

How would you describe the bands sound and style?

Our sound... I guess alternative rock, were not just one genre, Chris can lay down any beat it's so uneven but it works, we all have so many different influences, from the Sex Pistols to the Libertines, we love the Libertines style and the Killers.
It is really fun for us when we are performing, were quite quirky and that's why people seem to like us.

You recently performed your first live gig how did it go?

It was fantastic, it was so much more than we expected, there was such a big build up to it and the turn out was really good, we was all nervous beforehand, the feedback was great, it has been really good for us, lived up to the potential pumped us up, it has really prepared us like with working on stage nerves, we now have some idea what to expect, what to work on its been a really good learning experience, we love performing live.

How long did you spend rehearsing before hand?

About 4 hours, we rehearse at the Attic in town,we have two sessions a week, more if we can, it is pretty intense, we want to be the best we can.

Your music on your my space, any plans to release them to a EP both online and at your live shows?

Eventually we would love to and some covers aswell, we love all the songs on our my space we want to release them all. We need some more real studio time, we are trying to save money for gigs, we want to release our music but obviously first we need to get into a studio to record more songs. What we have recorded so far is during our rehearsals and at our first gig, with going in to the studio we can record our material to the best quality we possibly can.

Do you perform your own songs or are you performing covers while you are just starting out? Do you write your own music?

Actually we have been working on a new track today, we are working on playing our own songs, we need to get into the studio to work on our own stuff more. Performing our own material is what we are working towards.

When you are performing live do you perform your own songs or covers or a mix of both?

For our first gig we did three covers, we do want to perform more of our own music, we will keep one cover, we did Dakota by Sterophonics that went down really well, so i think that will be the cover we will keep and put the others to one side. We want the audiences to enjoy seeing us live... not get bored hearing the same stuff over again, were about having fun. (Are there any covers that you would like to perform at your next gig perhaps?)
Maybe the Killers, Biffy Cylro, some dance ones. No love songs!! something really upbeat, high energy, something to jump around to.

What can we expect from a Red District live show?

Fast songs, singalongs, a lot of audience interaction, at our live shows we want the crowds getting involved, enjoying them selves, really strong drum beats, clapping along, really getting them going and into out performance.

What is next for Red District, do you have any live shows lined up?

Just getting as many gigs booked in as we can, getting our music out there. Our next gig is on the 7th June at The Grapes, we may have a charity one coming up before that, all details will be at our my space: www.myspace.com/reddistrictsheff.

YLOTANA Project was born in the consciousness of people, who are infinitely devoted to art. It represents a certain musical, literary and visual art symbiosis. The vision of this project is to expand the role of art in people's day-to-day lives. The realization of this idea is done by continuously experimenting with visual, acoustic and written aspects of art in a way, which resonates with vibrancy and passion that is almost childlike in its exploration. The key idea of this project is to utilize visual art, comics, insightful stories and deeply explorative experimental music in order to provide a unique 4D image, which titillates the senses, borders on the transcendent, but is still very accessible to the masses.

The end product consists of a multimedia package, which includes elements of: a music album, a comic book and an audio book all sophisticatedly combined, so that each element intensifies the depth of the other art forms involved. Ylotana Project currently consists of five ongoing projects, all of which can be experienced on our website: www.ylotana.com.

TIRED of listening to the same old songs on the radio and seeing the same Barbie dolls heading up the music scene? Then YLOTANA are the band for you! A unique mixture of art, literature and music, Ylotana promises a 4D experience unlike any other.

The Ylotana project brings together a blend of styles and voices – from the literary to the visually artistic to the musical – into one focused whole, in an effort to combat the bland offerings currently being served to people who crave creative diversity within the arts.

The music itself is a lush arrangement of instrumentation that will lull you into a trance while taking you to another spiritual realm that will expand your mind and consciousness...
