The Jones:

Who are The Jones for anyone who isn’t familiar with you yet?
The Jones are myself Kris, Kev, Adam, Jono and Mike, we met randomly, we just gelled together, we create a good mix of music together.

Who is your music aimed at?

We like to think we cut through lots of genres, all age groups, from teenagers to people in to different styles of music, we love making music and hope everyone likes it, i know i probably sound corny but we just love doing what we do and i hope we can aim our music at everyone.

What would you say sets The Jones Apart from other bands in the charts?

I don’t know what sets us apart, are we original ,what is original really?? Maybe we are, who knows, that sets us apart musically all the boys are so talented, we all have different sounds, different melodies, we have an electric mix, when were writing music we believe in what we do, it’s real.On stage is where we love to be, performing live is what we do, when were on stage were really tight, because we have a huge music mix we able to showcase that on stage, we show people what were all about, our music’s real, we have passion for what we do, we hope that everyone likes us and our music, we want to give our music away, build up our fan base that way.

Do you rotate your set list?

We used to change our set list, for our last few gigs we’ve kept it the same, a few people must know some of our songs, we see then singing along, they know the words, so maybe its working, we have a solid set list, we like to play our set like an album, were constantly writing new songs, we’d love to do encores, interact with the audiences. We just love performing, being on stage singing for the band it what we love more than anything.

Which songs do you really feel when you are performing live?

Depends on the crowds, how were feeling, what’s going on in our heads... Shotgun goes down immensely. We do 7 songs to a set, we really believe in what sing, we love all our songs, over the last 6 months we have a great set list we feel so good when were performing. Performing is the greatest buzz ever, being on stage there aint no better feeling, we just basically love all of our music. Me and Kev have been writing music for 5 years were constantly improving, love singing, grooving to the music...

When will you be releasing your music into the mainstream?

We’ve had talks with major record labels, so it just a case of if and when. We would give our music away, we want to create a fan base, when we go out live we want to give away our cds, get out there getting our music heard.

Have you got an album ready for release?

We could have released an album a year ago, were constantly writing music, we want an incredible album, no fillers when we release, great first album, you can make a great 1st album and then the 2nd one not as great, your second album’s your make or break album if you like, 5 years of hard work, we want to continue to make incredible albums, we write together, being creative is something you never forget, we want a career that lasts. So many bands are getting dropped, strive to make a great album people will buy it, we’d love a number one album, when you hear our music, we wanna be good live, come and see us live its important, live is what we do.

What is your take on today’s music scene?

There are a lot of great bands out there again, you’ve got the Kings Of Leon and The Killers real bands, really playing, awesome live. Real bands are making a comeback like they used to be, look at bands like Queen, genius bands, great melodies, its real music, timeless lyrics expressing yourself.

Which bands influence The Jones?

Lyrics are important to us, bands like Coldplay, The Killers, Led Zepplin and Bob Dylan tell a story with their lyrics, what music should be about, we all have different influences, Adam’s into Muse and classically trained, Kev more Happy Mondays and Ac-DC, Jono will play anything into a different mix, John’s into Bles/Jazz, we gel together with our different sounds. The last gig we did some one said to us that was really different, which was great to hear. Come see us live and decide for your selves.

Where can you be spotted live?

We’ve got a ace gig Saturday night in Leeds at the Cockpit, all our dates are at our myspace: www.myspace.com/thejonesofficial .
Do you have any favorite venues that you’ve performed at and looking forward to performing at over again?
One of my favorite is a small pub venue, Primrose, its not cool, but I love it, we started there, Cockpit is always rammed, Any where our sound is good, we love to perform anywhere.

What’s next for The Jones?

Get more gigs, do more interviews/reviews just getting out there, getting our music heard, We want to give away our music, we don’t have any gimmicks all we have is our music, simple really.

Any messages for your fans?
Thank you, enjoy our music, come over say hello to us at our gigs, we hope you like our music.
